HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

The society of St. Francis De Sale, popularly known as the Don Bosco Society is an international organization founded in Italy in the year 1859 by St. John Bosco (Don Bosco), the great modern educator par excellence. The educational philosophy of Don Bosco, known as “The Preventive System,” his spiritual heritage, based on Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness continues to inspire all our educational initiatives.

Today the Sons of Don Bosco, numbering about 15,000, continue the apostolate of Integral Education of the young in the spirit of their funders through 2,000 educational institutions spread over 134. Countries of the world.

Holy Family Secondary School, Rongjeng, East Garo Hills (Established in 1977), is one such institution. It is an English Medium School established by the Salesian Fathers of Guwahati Province which has its Provincial Head Quarters at Guwahati- Assam. It is owned and managed by them, and it is a registered body under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, No. SR/RCC-222/91 of 1991.

Holy Family Secondary School, Rongjeng is Catholic Educational Institution. Though Catholic Schools are meant primarily for Catholics, they also admit other children irrespective of caste, creed or community. The constant effort of the management and the well-being of students and bring out those qualities which are best and noblest in them. Special attention is given to ensure a high standard of morality and discipline in the school.

The primary aim of Holy Family Higher Secondary School, Rongjeng is to impart integral formation (Physical, Intellectual, Moral, Social and Spiritual) based on the principles of Christian faith to the members of the Christian Community. It also imparts an integral formation (Physical, Intellectual, Moral, Social and Spiritual) to all others admitted to this institution. It’s our endeavor to form the students into good and honest citizens, worthy of God and our nation, capable of reaching out the less fortunate brothers and sisters and contributing to the building up of a society based on peace, justice and fraternity.

The course of instruction comprises of all the branches of education prescribed by the Meghalaya Board of School Education and prepares the students for the S.S.L.C and H.S.S.L.C. Examination conducted by the Board.
